Xola was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 2002 after he obtained his BIURIS and LLB degrees at the University of Transkei (now Walter Sisulu University) and Wits University, respectively.He started his legal career at Van Zyl le Roux & Hurter Incorporated, Pretoria in 2001 where he served his articles and progressed to become Director at the firm. After leaving the firm in 2005, amongst other things, Xola pursued a carrier in Public Private Partnership (PPP) Transactions which resulted in him getting involved in pre-eminent PPP and Project Finance transactions as part of Ledwaba Mazwai Attorneys.
He has extensive experience in transactional work where he has acted for various government organizations, departments and/or entities as part of various transaction advisory teams. Some of the work he has undertaken within the PPP market has been on behalf of private sector entities. This has enabled him to attain a wide-ranging view and understanding of the PPP market and regulatory tapestry. He has successfully led legal work streams and navigated various critical stages in PPP projects during feasibility assessments, preparation of procurement documentation (including draft agreements and schedules), undertook commercial and financial negotiations through to transaction closing.
